From a touch of subtle shimmer to full on bling there is a design here for everyone!

Like a magpie makes and supplies a range of handmade wall hangings and interior products for grown ups who like a bit of sparkle (but without a trace of tackiness!). Everything has a bit of sparkle - from canvases drenched in sequins to just a touch of subtle shimmer from using metallic thread...

I specialize in wall hangings but of late have also started making other accessories: -  cushion covers, memo boards and pretty much anything else I feel inspired to make!

Want to buy some pre-made work? I supply products direct to buy from Folksy (if you are UK based) or Etsy (if you based outside of the UK) – check out my the  sites to see what is currently for sale! I also offer a bespoke commission service where no job is too big or too small. Each piece is personal and unique. A variety of techniques are used including sewing, weaving and heat sealing

Here at Like a magpie we pride ourselves on being very approachable and believe in keeping things simple - Please feel free to
contact us
to say ‘hi’ or with any comments.

Do you suffer from magpie syndrome?
Magpie syndrome*

An irrational affinity for shiny objects. When a highly shiny object is seen by the sufferer it often may induce a compulsive need to claim it and several hours of staring at said object in the sun. This will later end in the sufferer pocketing the object to add to his/her collection by a sunny windowsill at home. If a shiny object is outside of a sufferer's grasp it will usually result in a strong obsession over it..

Symptoms:

  • An addiction to sparkly jewellery resulting in a glazed look when peering into jewellers windows.
  • Being mesmerized by disco balls on nights out.
  • Loving the work on Likeamagpie.com
 The Cure:

The only proven remedy for this syndrome is to acquire a magnitude of wonderfully sparkly items and collect them in your ‘nest’ to maintain the correct level of twinkly-ness in your life.

“In my final year of my degree I concentrated on lighting and became interested in working with fibre optic lighting for their sparkling and shimmering effect. This led me into experimenting with sequins and diamante to replicate this mesmerising effect.

After completing my degree I began making these wall panels for my home, but they got so many compliments I decided to take on commissions, which expanded into a business!
